THE GOAL OF THE COMMERCIAL LAW CENTER
The Commercial Law Center Foundation was established and registered in December 1993 in Warsaw. It was created by the Polish Bar Foundation, the Warsaw District Chamber of Legal Advisers and the Polish Lawyers' Association, Warsaw Branch (Foundation's statutes)
The goal of the Foundation is to inspire, support and organize cooperation among Polish and foreign communities of legal practitioners for learning Polish, foreign and international commercial law. This website has been created in furtherance of that goal. The Foundation also promotes continuing legal education for practicing attorneys. As an aid in promoting greater knowledge and understanding of Polish and international commercial law, a computer information resource center and library has been organized for the use of lawyers in Poland. (A list of the Foundation's library resources can be found on this site.) The Foundation is also promoting initiatives to assist Polish and foreign institutions in the field of commercial law.
LEARN MORE THROUGH OUR WORKSHOPS
With the assistance of the American Bar Association Central and East European Law Initiative ("CEELI"), the Foundation, in a short period of time, has had significant success in promoting continuing legal education. Its main task in this endeavor has been to organize continuing legal education workshops, meetings and seminars. At present legal education is the main area of the Foundation's activity. In order to ensure best quality of our workshops the Foundation cooperates with best Polish legal experts. These workshops have been attended by a few thousand attorneys, judges, in-house counsel and government officials from law firms, large and small companies, financial institutions, government, international organizations, the courts and the universities, many of whom have expressed their appreciation for the high quality and professionalism of the presentations, discussions and course materials. The Foundation invites legal trainees, judges from the association IUSTITIA and experts from NGOs to attend workshops free of charge.
The Commercial Law Center Foundation as a non-profit organisation spends the whole income on its statutory activity.
DISCOVER WHAT OUR LIBRARY HAS TO OFFER
In creating a commercial law resource center, the Foundation has established a law library which includes a computer cataloguing and search system. The Commercial Law Center maintains a collection of over 2,000 volumes on American, British, European, French, German, Polish and international law. Many of these legal texts were donated through a book drive organized by the Virginia Bar Association in the United States. The Center also provides extensive computer resources, including collections of legal materials on CD-ROMs and access to the Internet, the World Wide Web and other on-line services.
